Jordan E. Spivack: My Bio

Jordan E. Spivack:  There are two things that fuel my life: music and love. And when I write, play and teach music these two things join forces. I need my compositions to reflect the world around me and within me. When I'm working on music I get lost in the process, and lose complete track of time - it's a lovely gift, and I'm very thankful for it.

I'm an award-winning performer/composer/lyricist/arranger/producer who lives in Nanuet, NY, where I am a full time private piano, music theory and composition teacher, instructing students of all ages and levels. Born in Brooklyn, NY, I started piano lessons at age 5 after my parents Sophie and Gershon discovered I had the gift of music composition. At 10 years old I studied piano and music theory (for 3 years) at Cornell University. I was a member of the rock band The Creation while in HS in Cortland, NY. After receiving a BM degree from Ithaca College, where I also studied Piano Pedagogy, I went on to receive my MM in composition, theory and piano from Indiana U.

Since then I have written multiple pop songs, classical, jazz, new age, electronica, and ambient pieces, 3 musicals for children, and the opera: "A Better Way", with libretto by Joseph P. Lanzone.  My original solo instrumental CDs include "Shimmer", "Think Lovely Thoughts", “My Provincetown", "World Trade Center Suite", "Symmetry", "Pictures Of Me", and "Red Ribbon Collection". My original Singles are "Eclipse", "Amp Up", "Neon", and "Jump For You".

In Junior's Cave Online Magazine, Isaac Davis Jr. is quoted as saying: "Jordan E. Spivack is amazing when it comes to composing intelligent classical music that captures the true meaning of beautiful sounds. This composer/lyricist also happens to be an amazing piano player which becomes one of his biggest strengths with his music as the piano selections add a whole new excitement to each of his songs."

I am proud to be the winner of many prestigious songwriting awards, including Best International Jazz Song for "Cascades" in the 2010 Toronto Exclusive Magazine Awards, The SILVER Award (2nd Place) for "Toccata" in the 25th Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, and a Finalist for "Shimmer" in the 11th Annual Great American Song Contest.
